Bright and deep in colour. Falernia Carmenere Syrah 2006 displays a good fruit concentration. On the nose black pepper, red fruit and dark chocolate. Great body with soft tannins on the palate...with a very elegant tast.....Maravilloso! One third of the 60% Carmenère Is 'Amarone' dried on the vine until June. A touch of herbaceous character, style from grapes with some blackcurrant fruit beneath. The palate has a notable sweetness, though only 4.5g/l of sugar, that is very smooth and cherry-flavoured, with a touch of chocolate and a nice fresh, cherry skin and lemon bite in the finish. Falernia winery is located in the Elqui Valley near the small town of La Serena, 300 miles north of Santiago and it is at the present , Chile's northermost wine estate. The climate is semiarid with a dramatic contrast between day and night time temperature during the ripening season.
